For this series, Dave will be regularly joined by Nathan Bartlebaugh of the Phantom Galaxy podcast, as they cover the following segments:

Six-Pack Movie Reviews: Every episode, Dave and Nathan will choose six films available on physical media and review them. In future episodes, each host will choose three movies, but Dave picks the first six covered here.

This batch includes a wild Western that may have been partially directed by Dario Argento; one of Elvis Presley’s self-proclaimed favorite roles; a nearly 30-year-old Natalie Wood playing 15; a coke-addled Sherlock Holmes mixing it up with Sigmund Freud; Gene Tierney in the creepiest rowboat scene you’re likely to see; and the film that prompted Martin Scorsese to seek out and cast Joe Pesci in Raging Bull!

Artist Spotlight: Dave and Nathan continue their “The Films of Nicholas Ray” series with his 1956 tour de force “Bigger than Life,” featuring James Mason as a school teacher struggling with the disastrous side effects of a life-saving miracle drug.

Music in the Movies: Each host picks one song either specifically from or prominently featured in a movie.

During Episode 057, the topic is THE FILMS OF “THE DUKE,” JOHN WAYNE. You will also get some inside info about Bruce Dern and many other inside scoop stories (that you’ve never heard before). Also, Matt does a very convincing John Wayne impersonation. You will hear a great story about “The Quiet Man” (1952), as well as the tale of when Dr. Shock fell in love with the film “The Shootist” (1976).

Dave and Matt even mention a couple of John Wayne’s worst movies. In this episode, Matt tells a story about the one time he was truly star-struck in L.A. … Which actor did he meet? Listen to find out! During this show, you can also hear which contemporary filmmaker Dave refers to as “a Modern-Day Hitchcock.” And somehow, Dave and Matt even end up talking about “The Nail Gun Massacre” (1985) — not a John Wayne film, but maybe it should have been… Oh, and Dave tells the saddest story you’ve ever heard about the pre-VHS / home video era involving the movie “Superman” (1978). Considering Horror Cinema Ep. 011: Horrors From the Past Resurface in the Present

Here’s an episode for Slasher fans… In Episode 011 of Considering Horror Cinema, your late-night Horror host, Jay of the Dead brings you a 10 out of 10-rated Horror movie, a modern Slasher from Hong Kong by Pang Ho-cheung, called Dream Home (2011). Buy it sight unseen, if you love Slashers and gore films. This episode also features a little bit of a scandal in which Jay reissues an excerpted interview from BillChete’s Horror on the Go, when BillChete interviewed Jay of the Dead during a 2015 debate about Horror Genre Classification. (Listen to the episode for more explanation, but in short, Jay is still trying to get in touch with BillChete to get him on this show and figured this might be a good way.)
