In this episode of Considering the Cinema, your hosts Jason Pyles (aka “Jay of the Dead”) and Dave “Dr. Shock” Becker kick things off with a Feature Review of the documentary, Movie Hoarders: From VHS to DVD and Beyond (2021), a celebration of physical media collecting that feels tailor-made for cinephiles, collectors, and movie obsessives. Jason and Dave discuss the joys of movie collecting, video store nostalgia, the challenges of organizing massive collections, the enduring appeal of physical media, and the peculiar psychology behind buying movies you may never actually watch. In Episode 091 of Considering the Cinema, your hosts Jason Pyles, Mack Robins, and Dave Becker return for another installment of The Weekly Watchlist, where the agenda is simple: Watch whatever strikes your fancy and report back. Jason kicks things off with exciting news for Alien fans, discussing the animated Alien: Isolation digital series and the upcoming Alien: Earth television series. (Note: This episode was initially recorded way back on January 14, 2025.) He also offers a strong recommendation for Taylor Sheridan’s television work, particularly Landman.

Meanwhile, Mack takes listeners on a fascinating journey through childhood nostalgia, literary adaptations, and indie Horror. He revisits the animated fantasy Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland and shares his surprisingly positive experience with Keeping the Promise (also known as The Sign of the Beaver), a historical drama his son’s class is watching in school.
